George M. Christie

Christie, George M., 85, of Star Avenue, Riverside, died peacefully on December 13, 2017. He was the husband of the late Suzanne G. (Gaucher) Christie.

Born in Providence, a son of the late William M. and Mary (Queen) Christie, he lived in Riverside for 62 years.

Mr. Christie was a tool maker for the former Speidel Corp. for 33 years before retiring in 1996.

George was a member of Southeastern New England Antique Association and the I.A.M. Union.

Mr. Christie was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean War.

He is survived by his children; Stephen Christie of Burrillville, Diana Christie-Robitaille of North Kingstown, Cynthia Muhlbach of Hope Valley, and George Christie of Putnam CT., a sister; Margaret Macnie of Narragansett and six grandchildren. He was the brother of the late William Christie.

A Celebration of His Life will be held on Monday evening, December 18, 2017, in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8 p.m. Calling hours are Monday evening 5-8p.m. Flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in George’s memory to the Little Sisters of the Poor, Jeanne Jugan Residence, 964 Main Street, Pawtucket, RI 02860 would be deeply appreciated.

Diana and Cynthia will be hosting a Celebration of Life, Concert and Memorial Service to honor our father, George Martin Christie. The Piper will be playing as well as a few popular local folk musicians and vocalists leading us all in song. The Service will be held Tuesday evening, December 19th at 6pm at the church formally known as Roger Williams Baptist Church (now Christ Community Church). 224 Woodward Rd. Providence, RI. Bring your voices and join us as we lift this angel to eternal peace, light, and joy.

  1. My heartfelt condolences to the Christie family. George was indeed a loving father and provider. I also remember him as one who cared for neighborhood friends of his children. For that, I am grateful. My thoughts are with all the family during this time. May you find comfort in knowing he is now in peace, with no pain. All my love.
