Joseph R. Antaya

Antaya, Joseph R., 85, of Turner Avenue, Riverside, died peacefully on September 21, 2016. He was the husband of the late Gloria J. (Chamberland) Antaya.
Born in North Smithfield, a son of the late Narcisso and Rosealba Antaya, he lived in Riverside for 49 years.
Mr. Antaya was a maintenance man for the Stone Gate Condominiums for many years before retiring in 1988.
Joseph was a communicant of St. Brendan Church. He was a lifelong member of the Riverside American Legion Post #10. A sports enthusiast, he was a devoted New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan. He enjoyed cooking and gardening.
Mr. Antaya was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean War.
He is survived by two sons, Joseph N. Antaya of East Providence and David J. Antaya of West Warwick; a daughter, Rosealba M. Antaya of Riverside; a step-son, Robert Jette of East Providence; 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
His funeral will be held on Monday September 26, 2016 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, North Smithfield.
