Joseph E. Medeiros, Jr. (78) of North Kingstown, RI, died peacefully at home on June 8, 2019 surrounded by his loved ones. He was the beloved husband of Laurie Helgerson Medeiros. Born in Providence to the late Utilia Perry Medeiros and Joseph E. Medeiros, he was raised in Fox Point and moved to East Providence at the age of 16. At 23, he joined the East Providence Fire Department, where he served for 30 years and rose to the rank of Battalion Chief. Joe enjoyed golfing, fishing, cruising, working in his yard, and playing cards. His biggest joy was being with the love of his life, Laurie.

Joe is survived by his brother Peter E. Medeiros of Jamestown, RI and sister Gail Medeiros Thomas of Seekonk, MA. He was the brother of the late Gilbert Medeiros and Utilia Capelo. He is also survived by his children Cheryl Knorr-Kolkka (Steve Kolkka), David Medeiros, David (Lynn) Curren, and Lisa (Scott) Golz; his grandchildren Alyse, David, Alyssa, Madison, Samantha, Zachary, William, and Jenna; and his great-granddaughters Olivia and Lucy.

  3. Joey was my brother Toms best friend, my twin sister and I played with Joey and my brother and have wonderful memories with him. He would tease and make us laugh and I am so so sorry at this time for you.
