Ernie L. Lusignan, 79, of Firglade Ave, Riverside, died unexpectedly on May 6, 2025 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Leo and Laura (Picard) Lusignan, he was a lifelong resident of Riverside.
Mr. Lusignan was a self-employed plumber who worked in construction along with his family for 64 years before retiring in 2019.
Ernie was a communicant of St. Brendan Church and a member of the East Providence Elks Lodge # 2337. He enjoyed camping, golfing, playing cards with his family and hosting family gatherings and neighborhood block parties. He also enjoyed helping others.
He is survived by two daughters, Sherry L. Santos and her husband Pedro of Seekonk, MA and Nichole O. Lusignan of Florida; three grandchildren, Roth N. Santos of New York, Isac N. Santos of Seekonk, MA and Jack C. Santos of Seekonk, MA and a companion, Joyce Harker of Riverside. He was the brother of the late Arthur, Leo, Robert, Albert, Paul, Norman and Walter Lusignan and Alma Wall and Doris Bassett.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside on Monday May 12, 2025 at 10 am. Burial will follow in Mount St. Mary Cemetery.
Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in Ernie’s memory to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX, 75284 would be deeply appreciated.
I will always remember Uncle Ernie’s quick wit and laughter. I used to see him at the paint store, where he would ask me how my family was doing. His kindness meant a lot to me. Sherry and Nichole, I am sorry for your sadness and loss.
