Nancy M. (Carrara) McCauley

Date of Passing:
Nancy M. (Carrara) McCauley, 97, of Riverside, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 17, 2025, surrounded by the love and comfort of her devoted family. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph F. McCauley.
Born in Johnston, Nancy was the daughter of the late Joseph and Cecilia (Vietry) Carrara. She made Riverside her home for the past 65 years, where she built a life rooted in faith, family, and service to others.
For 35 years, Nancy co-owned and operated the Edward F. St. Pierre Shoe Store in Taunton, MA, a business she ran with dedication and grace until her retirement in 2012. Through her work, she touched the lives of countless customers and colleagues, always offering a kind word and a warm smile.
A woman of deep faith, Nancy was a daily communicant at St. Brendan Church.
Nancy found joy in the simple pleasures—tending to her garden, feeling the wind while sailing, and spending treasured time with her family. Her strength, wisdom, and quiet warmth left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion in her five children: Joseph K. McCauley and his wife Debby of Johnston, Brian W. McCauley and his wife Linda of East Providence, Mark F. McCauley and his wife Susan of Rehoboth, MA, Kathleen M. McCauley-Swenson and her husband Charles Swenson (Ret. Major EPPD) of Rehoboth, MA, and Nancy E. McCauley of Riverside. She was a proud and adoring grandmother to six grandchildren and one great-grandson. Nancy was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Carrara Jr.
Nancy will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her grace, generosity, and the enduring love she gave so freely.
Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday August 20, 2025 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 9:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside at 11 a.m. Graveside burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Calling hours are Tuesday 4-7 p.m.
I just learned of Mrs. MCaughley’s passing. I enjoyed her yearly visits to exchange Christmas cookies. She was a wonderful woman. Sending peace and comfort to her family.

Joe, Brian, Mark, Kathy, and Nancy… Some of my fondest memories are the McCauley Clan/Brady Bunch gatherings of way back when. It is so heartwarming to know our moms had such an incredibly long and amazing friendship, along with our dads:-) Us city kids thought we were going to the country when we’d head to your house for the many cookouts, yard games, and good old life fun. It’s such a gift to have had that time and to watch and learn what being great friends truly meant – Nancy and Ruth, George and Joe. Truly a blessing. I’m ever grateful for the role Nancy filled as godmother to Pattie, even being the back-up mom when ours was hospitalized. May the warmth and love of those days so long ago along with the so very many days and years you’ve had since bring you all the joy and peace our moms would be proud to see as we continue, I’m sure, to be guided by the lessons of their faith and steadfast nature…with some nods, beautiful smiles, and great hamburgers and hot dogs on the side. Rest in Peace Nancy…your spirit and legacy lives on.
Kathy, Jen and family,
Our deepest condolences on the passing of your Mom and GG.
She was a wonderful woman and will
surely be missed.
Our thoughts and prayers to all.
Rest in peace 🕊️
So sorry to hear about Nancy. I have great memories of growing up with my cousins at family gatherings. My condolences to her family. I know she is in heaven looking down on her family and friends.
To the McCauley family:
Your Mom was such a special lady. Always put together perfectly showing her true beauty. She made it so easy to see just how much she loved life, her family, and God. My fond memories go back to the 60’s when life was simple and visiting friends was the natural thing to do. The Brady’s seemed to always go to the McCauley’s house for those visits because yours was larger and able to accommodate all 13 of us! Fun times…every time! The years have brought many changes…losses…new generations…and gratefulness to have been part of our parents’ friendship.
I wish you all peace as you now begin the journey of honoring the beautiful memories your Mom so lovingly has left to all of you. May her faith shine through for you and allow you to smile at each thought of her.
God has welcomed home His cherished Angel…your Mom. XOXO
Sorry for your loss
