Joan B. (Taylor) Brightman, 67, of Garden Street, Cranston, died peacefully at home on Saturday, January 24, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Bruce E. Brightman, with whom she shared a life filled with love and devotion.

Born in Providence, Joan was a daughter of the late Franklin and Dorothy (Baggesen) Taylor. She lived in Cranston for the past 12 years, having previously resided in Riverside.
Joan was a graduate of East Providence High School, Class of 1976.

Joan was a devoted homemaker who found her greatest joy in caring for those she loved. She had a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures and enjoyed gardening, dancing, listening to music, singing karaoke, shopping with her sisters, and, most of all, spending time with her cherished grandchildren. Joan was also a devoted dog lover and shared her life with many dogs whom she loved deeply.

She is survived by her loving children, a son, Derek E. Brightman and his wife, Benigna, of Cranston, and a daughter, Cherie L. Brightman of Riverside. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Dylan and Bridget Brightman. Joan also leaves her sisters, Patricia Champagne of Columbia, Connecticut, and Dorothy Dias of Riverside; her brothers, Franklin Taylor Jr. of Riverside, Randy Taylor and his wife Joanne, and James R. Taylor of Riverside; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Dillon B. Brightman.

Her funeral service will be held in the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, 350 Willet Avenue, Riverside, on a date and time to be announced.
