Jean A. (Hitchen) Treacy, 94, of Francis Avenue, Riverside, passed away unexpectedly at home on March 31, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert F. Treacy.

Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Jean was a lifelong resident of East Providence.

For many years, she worked as a school bus driver, a role she carried out with care and responsibility, safely transporting generations of local children.

Jean was a member of the Zion Bible Institute, where her faith remained an important part of her life. She found joy in the simple pleasures—reading a good book, sewing with patience and skill, tending to her garden, and, most of all, spending cherished time with her loving family.

She leaves behind her children, Allison J. Treacy of Riverside, Leslie Breundage of Eddington, Maine, Lee Owen of Ellington, Connecticut, and Albert Owen of Wilmington, North Carolina; two cherished grandchildren; and her sisters, Vivian Johnson of Riverside and Eleanor Seifereth of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She was the mother of the late William Owen and sister of the late Albert, Susan and Alice.

Jean will be remembered for her quiet strength, her warm heart, and her unwavering love for her family. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Her funeral service will be private.
