Uzelle Acciardo
Date of Passing:
In Loving Memory of Uzelle (Carreiro) Acciardo of Barrington, RI
February 3, 1926-September 4, 2025
It is with deep love and gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, Uzelle, who left us at the age of 99. Uzelle was born, raised and educated in Bristol, RI.
She was the loving wife of the late Frank V. Acciardo of Barrington, RI to whom she was married for 45 years.
Uzelle lived her life with a quiet strength, deep compassion and a heart full of love. She was the cornerstone of our family, a gentle and steady presence whose kindness touched everyone she met. Her greatest joy came from simply being with her family. Nothing made her smile more brightly than time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whose visits always lit up her days.
A lifelong animal lover, Uzelle had a special bond with her daughter’s dog, Poppy, her constant companion, who held a unique and cherished place in her heart.
Uzelle leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and family-a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Uzelle is survived by her two daughters, Karen Leach and her husband Scott Leach of South Kingstown, RI and Mary D’Agostino and her husband Stanley Surtel of Smithfield, RI, her grandsons Brian Leach and his wife Lauren Leach of Scituate, RI, Alexander Leach and his wife Stephanie Randall of Smithfield, RI, her three precious great-grandchildren, Grayson, Gemma and Cameron Leach and many loving nieces and loyal friends. She was the daughter of the late Estulano D. Carreiro and Mary T. (Sylvia) Carreiro of Bristol, RI and the sister of the late Frank Carreiro, Ann McKay, Sarah Cabral and Mabel Almeida.
Services for Uzelle will be private. In lieu of flowers her family kindly suggests memorial contributions in Uzelle’s name to Cra-Mar Meadows (Activities Fund)
575 Seven Mile Road, PO Box 20659, Cranston, RI 02920. Uzelle’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the excellent care she received over the past year from the kind and caring staff at Cra-Mar Meadows.
We will miss Uzelle deeply, but we take comfort in knowing her love lives on in each of us.
