Proffitt, Albert E., Jr., 97, formerly of Fort Hill Road, died peacefully in Atlanta, GA on December 4, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Mary Lou (MacAskill) Proffitt.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Albert E. and Cora (Faye) Proffitt, he lived in Bristol for 40 years.
Mr. Proffitt was an engineering supervisor at the former New England Telephone Co. for 36 years before retiring in 1982.
Albert was a past Grand Master of the Mount Moriah Masonic Temple, Lincoln. He was a volunteer at the Town of Bristol Property Taxation Office. He enjoyed playing the clarinet, boating, traveling internationally and was a devoted Boston Red Sox fan.
Mr. Proffitt was a United States Navy Veteran serving during World War II.
He is survived by a son, Albert E. Proffitt III and his wife Liz of Warwick; a daughter, Jean Proffitt and her husband Andre of Atlanta, GA and two grandchildren, Albert F. Proffitt and Cynthia A. Proffitt. He was the former husband of Madeline Smith of North Providence and the brother of the late Donald Proffitt.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday December 13, 2017 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 9:15 a.m. with a funeral service in the First Congregational Church, 300 High Street, Bristol at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday 4-7 p.m.
