Ann M. (Cabral) Wilson

Date of Passing:

July 28, 2025

Ann M. (Cabral) Wilson, 79, of Providence Avenue, Riverside, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025, at Rhode Island Hospital, surrounded by the love and presence of her devoted family.
She was the cherished wife of Richard O. Wilson, with whom she shared 31 wonderful years.

Born in Providence, Ann was the daughter of the late Arthur and Helen (Newell) Cabral. She was a proud lifelong resident of Riverside, where her compassion and strength touched many lives.

Ann dedicated 25 years of her career as a safety manager for First Student Group Bus Company, retiring in 2015. But her legacy began long before that. She broke barriers as the first woman to serve as a police officer in the East Providence Police Department. She carried that same determination and commitment into every role she played in life, whether on the job, on the field, or in her community.

Ann’s love for life and family shone brightly. She was an avid golfer and a proud member of the Women’s Golf League at Swansea Country Club. She coached Riverside Little League softball and was always up for a game—softball, bowling, or cards. She and her husband, Richard, were avid boaters and spent wonderful times with family and friends boating to Block Island. Memories of those times will live on in the hearts of those she held dear.

Besides her beloved husband Richard, Ann leaves behind her daughter, Kimberly A. Flowers-Francis and her companion Keith Higgins of Riverside; her stepchildren, David Wilson, and his wife Donna of Bristol; Kenneth Wilson and his wife Mikki of Washington State; and Wendy Wilson of Warren; and her granddaughter Paige Francis, the love of Ann’s life. She is also survived by two step-grandchildren, Jesse and Emma Wilson; four loving sisters and one brother: Beverly Ferreira and Eleanor Foeri of Riverside; Helen Anderson of Barrington; Nancy Calvert of Fryeburg, Maine and Robert Cabral of Lee, New Hampshire; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Patricia Cabral and her brother Arthur “Butch” Cabral.

Ann will be remembered for her strength, generosity, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. Her legacy of kindness, courage, and joy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 2:30pm in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willet Avenue, Riverside. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 12:30pm to 2:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Ann’s memory to the American Heart Association, 1 State St, Unit 200, Providence, RI 02908.
