Anthony Marchetti

Date of Passing:

January 21, 2018

Marchetti, Anthony “Tony”, 91, of Riverside, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday January 21, 2018 surrounded by his beloved family. He was the devoted husband of Antonette (Colantonio) Marchetti with whom he happily celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in November.

Born in Providence to Antonio and Lucia (Mattera) Marchetti, he attended Classical High School. He and Annette spend the majority of their married life in Riverside.
Anthony was a Senior Quality Control Engineer at Raytheon in Portsmouth, retiring in 1991 after thirty years in the Sub Signal Division. He was a doting husband, father and grandfather who found great joy in spending time with his family, especially attending sporting events his children and, later, his grandchildren participated in. Family was always the most important aspect of his life.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, David and wife Cindy of Riverside; his son Rick and wife Donna of Smithfield; his daughter, Laurie McElwain and husband Dean of Rehoboth, MA; eight grandchildren, Anthony Marchetti and his wife Adria, Amy Marchetti Dias and her husband Chris, Cara Marchetti Call and her husband Travis, Corey Marchetti and his wife RuthAnn, Kristen Marchetti, Kelsey Marchetti, Camden Marchetti and Benjamin McElwain and seven great-grandchildren. He was a communicant of St. Brendan Church, Riverside. He also leaves a brother, Joseph Marchetti of Florida and a sister, Anna Quinn of Foster.

He enjoyed puzzles—-especially crosswords, reading and Western themed movies and TV shows. When his sons were younger he served as Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 3, Riverside. Anthony received his Undergraduate degree from Providence College and his Masters from Bryant College and was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving as a Radio Operator in the Navy and was a long-time fan of the New York Yankees. He will be sorely missed by family and friends alike.

His funeral will be held on Thursday January 25, 2018 in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 7:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside at 10 a.m.

Calling hours are Thursday morning 7:45-8:45 a.m. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in Anthony’s memory to the Visiting Nurses of Hope Health, 6 Blackstone Valley Place, Lincoln, RI, 02865 would be deeply appreciated.
