Christe, Anton, F., 96, of Barney Street, Rumford, died peacefully on May 28, 2024.

Born in Brockton, MA, a son of the late Anton and Maude (Cook) Christe, he lived in Rumford for 64 years. He was a graduate of Central High School Class of 1945.

He was the husband of the late Alice (Martin) Christe, the love of his life, with whom he built their home in Rumford.

Mr. Christe was a construction foreman, building and rehabilitating homes throughout southern MA for over 50 years. There was nothing he could not build or fix.

Anton was a communicant of St. Margaret Church and was a quiet, gentle man. He was a devoted Red Sox fan who worked hard and cared deeply about his family. His kind, quiet manner inspired those who knew him, and he was always ready to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. He loved to day-sail on Narragansett Bay with his family.

Anton is survived by a son, Michael E. Christe of Indianapolis, IN; a daughter Diane M. Leinhauser (Mark) of Warwick; a sister, Barbara Howkins of Riverside; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Paul R. Christe.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside, at 8:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret Church, 1098 Pawtucket Avenue, Rumford, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Calling hours are Tuesday, June 4, 2024 from 4-7 p.m. Flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in Anton’s memory to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI, 02904 would be greatly appreciated.

  2. What an amazing man. I am thankful I had the opportunity to get to know him and his daughter Diane. Anton will be deeply missed. May you rest in peace.
