Assante, Antonette, Marie, ‘Etta’, (Carlone), 88, died peacefully on February 24, 2012 surrounded by her loving family at Warren Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late George J. Assante.

Born in Barrington, a daughter of the late Pietro and Margherita (DeBalsi) Carlone, she was a lifelong resident of Barrington.

Antonette was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother-most of all she was matriarch of her adoring Italian-American family. Etta chose to forgo college after graduating high school to enter the workforce in support of her family. She worked for the R.I. Mrs. Assante was a communicant of Holy Angel Church and a member of the Women’s Guild. Her passion for life was driven by a devotion to other people especially family. Her home played host for decades to many happy, memorable holidays. Christmas Eve dinner was her grandest stage and the unique touch she put on that holiday lives on today.
