Damiani, Armando, ‘Mandy’, 92, of Willett Avenue, Riverside, died peacefully on March 4, 2016 at the Rhode Island Hospital Surgical Intensive Care Unit surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Angelo and Girolama ‘Jennie’ (Giglio) Damiani, he lived Riverside for 56 years.

Mr. Damiani was the Vice President of the Riverside Cleansers for 54 years before retiring in 1999.

Mandy was a past President of the East Providence Fraternal Order of Police Association Lodge #1. He was a member of the Riverside American Legion Post #10 and the East Providence Tax Board of Review.

Mr. Damiani was a communicant and usher at St. Brendan Church for over 40 years. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in Normandy and the Battle of The Bulge during World War II.

A sports enthusiast, he was a devoted New York Yankees fan and enjoyed his daily ride of the Riverside 500.

The Damiani Family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Michael Connolly M.D. and the staff of the Rhode Island Hospital S.I.C.U. for their kindness, sensitivity and excellent care of our Uncle Mandy.

He is survived by his beloved sister, Lillian Estrella and her husband Bob of Riverside and his loving nieces and nephews, Dr. Louis Damiani, former Senator Michael Damiani, Steven Damiani, Anna Gregorio, Elaine Damiani, Salvatore Damiani, Angelo Damiani, Richard Damiani, Nancy Chaplin, Robert Estrella, Andrea Hogan, John Estrella and Dana D’Orsi. He was the brother of the late Louis Damiani, Anthony Damiani, Salvatore Damiani, Angelo Damiani, Joseph Damiani, Richard Damiani and uncle of the late Gina Vespia.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday March 9, 2016 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside at 10 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
