Arthur G. Lemoi

Date of Passing:

May 23, 2011

Lemoi, Arthur, G., 79, of Barrington, died peacefully on Monday, May 23, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Manor, Bristol. Born on May 2, 1932, he was the son of the late Leo and Orise (Boucher) Lemoi. Arthur was the husband of the late Nancy E. Lemoi, to whom he was married for 45 years.

Arthur was raised in Cranston, and was a proud graduate and long-time alumni supporter of LaSalle Academy, class of 1950. After serving in the U.S. Army, Arthur enrolled at The University of Rhode Island, where he lettered on the football team in 1953, and graduated in 1958. In 1959, Arthur began a 43 year career at The Herald Press, in Pawtucket, RI. Arthur became General Manager of The Herald Press in 1982, and was responsible for running the company until his retirement in 2002. Arthur was a parishioner of St. Luke’s Church in Barrington. He was a past President, Vice President, and Audit Committee member of the Anawan Club, Rehoboth, MA, and a former member of the Barrington Yacht Club, Newport Yacht Club, and The Squantum Association. Arthur enjoyed many years of boating with his family, and annual family vacations on Sanibel Island, FL.

Arthur found happiness and pride in his ability to develop long lasting relationships, both in his personal and professional life. He did so in great part because he always took time to engage in meaningful conversations that showed he truly cared and was open to making personal connections with others. Arthur’s life was defined by his faith, devotion to his family, many close friendships, and the respect and admiration earned from those with whom he worked. He was also an amazingly self-sufficient mechanical tinkerer. From boats and cars, to printing presses and computers, Arthur could do it all.

Arthur is survived by his two daughters; Kimberly Bowers and her husband Daniel, of Hebron, CT; and Lisa Culton and her husband William, of Barrington, RI; his four grandsons, Bradley and Mason Bowers of Hebron, CT; and Jack and Grant Culton, of Barrington, RI; his siblings: Leo Lemoi and his wife Maureen, Jeannette Tellier and her husband Jean, Richard Lemoi and his wife Sheila, Robert Lemoi and his wife Nancy, Lawrence Lemoi and his wife Kimberly; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Watson Funeral Home, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside, on Saturday, May 28, 8-9:30AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Luke’s Church, Washington Road, Barrington at 10AM.
