Barbara Ann Geisser

Geisser, Barbara Ann, (Hockman), of Riverside, born in East Providence on December 11, 1926, daughter of Grover Cleveland Hockman and Josephine (King) Hockman. She was the beloved wife of Russell F. ‘Bud’ Geisser. She was preceded by two brothers, Lloyd Hockman and Grover ‘G’ Hockman and a sister, Marjorie.

Mrs. Geisser was an avid reader and world traveler and began her journeys by touring Europe on her honeymoon by motorcycle in 1949. Later in addition to her frequent trips to foreign lands such as Russia and Egypt, Mrs. Geisser enjoyed crossword puzzles, entertaining and sailing and could often be found preparing for another weekend or week on Narragansett Bay with her loving husband Bud and children.

Mrs. Geisser was known for her generous and good natured spirit and her unswerving support for her family and friends.

She is survived and sadly missed by her loving husband of 64 years; a son, Michel F. Geisser of Warren, who always looked to her for the latest scuttlebutt on the Boston Red Sox; two daughters who always knew she was there for them, Patricia J. Dicks of Naples, FL and Susan B. Geisser of Glocester, MA; five grandchildren, Ian Lusignan, Lauren Blatt, Ariel Taylor, Nicole Hallett and Beth Ann Dicks, whom she doted on and three young great grandchildren, Ethan, Brinley and Greyson, who made her smile and laugh.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday October 15, 2013 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8 am with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside at 9 am. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Calling hours are Saturday October 12, 2013 from 3-6 pm. Flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in Barbara’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105 would be deeply appreciated.
