Casala, Barbara M., 85, of Goldsmith Avenue, died peacefully on October 12, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Ralph J. Casala.
Born in Swansea, MA, a daughter of the late William and Edith (Peters) Schaefer, she lived in East Providence for 50 years.
Mrs. Casala was a waitress at the Young China Restaurant for 30 years. She also was a cook at the Evergreen Nursing Home.
She is survived by her children, Constance F. Marshall of Fairfax, VA, Vincent J. Sousa of Exeter and Linda M. Masdanian of East Providence; two brothers, William Schaefer of Riverside and
John Schaefer of Swansea, MA; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Peter Schaefer, Madeline Almedia and Clara Hanson.
Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday October 16, 2018 in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 6 p.m.
Calling hours are Tuesday 4-6 p.m. Burial will be private. Flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in Barbara’s memory to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105 would be deeply appreciated.
Your mom had a special place in my heart. We worked together at Young China many years ago. Later, whether it was breakfast at Dee’s Restaurant or a function in her community room, her eyes twinkled as she smiled. She had a way of way making me feel loved. Such a special lady.
I’ll very much miss Barbara. A great person.
