Brightman, Bruce E., 66, of Garden Street, Cranston, died peacefully at home on May 27, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Joan B. (Taylor) Brightman.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Edwin and Irene (DelleFemine) Brightman, he lived in Cranston for the past 10 years, previously residing in Riverside.

Bruce was a graduate of East Providence High School Class of 1976.

Mr. Brightman was a finance salesman for Motorsports Nation, Seekonk, Ma for the past 10 years and previously had worked at Champagne Chevrolet, Willimantic, Ct for 20 years.

He enjoyed golfing and fishing and was a devoted fan of Providence College Basketball, Boston Celtics, New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox.

Bruce enjoyed spending time with his loving family.

Besides his wife of 48 years, he is survived by a son, Derek E. Brightman and his wife Benigna of Cranston; a daughter, Cherie L. Brightman of Riverside; a sister, Pamela Brightman of Wisconsin; two grandchildren, Dylan and Bridget Brightman and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Dillon B. Brightman and brother of the late Thomas Brightman.

His Funeral Service will be held on Sunday June 2, 2024 in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 4:30 p.m.

Calling Hours are Sunday from 2:30 p.m.- 4:30 p.m. Flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in Bruce’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Pl, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 would be deeply appreciated.

  4. So sorry to hear of Bruce’s passing. Thoughts and prayers to his wife and family. We knew Bruce from Motorsports Nation as our son races dirtbikes. Bruce never failed to come out and say hello and chit chat about racing, dogs and cigars. We are grateful to have met him and become his friend. He was a special person and will be surely missed.

  6. Bruce sold me 2 jet skis, a trailer and lots of extras back in 2017. I had a fond respect for him as he was an honest friendly guy. Every time I went into the dealership for something he would come over to me and say hello. My sincere condolences to his friends and family. May he rest in peace.

  7. My deepest sympathies to Joan, Derek and Cherie. My found memories of Bruce go way back. I always remember the long haired smiling friend of my brother. The Brown family thought of him as family. In time, only the happy memories will replace this sad time.

He was always kind and caring to all those around him and always made you feel welcome. I will always feel honored to have had him as a member of my family and grateful to call him my uncle. As sad and difficult it is to learn of his passing, I know that he is now home with the LORD.
