Carol E. Blaeser

Date of Passing:

November 8, 2021

Blaeser, Carol E. (McLane), 71, of Old Forge Road, Barrington, died peacefully on November 8, 2021, surrounded by her loving family at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence. She was the beloved wife of Joseph W. Blaeser III.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Joseph W. and Edna (Denoncour) McLane, she was a lifelong resident of Barrington.

Carol was a graduate of Barrington High School Class of 1968. She went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree from URI Class of 1972 and a Master’s Degree from RIC. Member of the National Education Association, she was a dedicated teacher for 28 years, before retiring in 2010. She was a beloved elementary teacher at Nayatt School in Barrington for most of her career, making a difference at the school and having a lasting impact on her students. She lived her life with the utmost dignity, humility, and honesty, and was forever grateful for the life she lived.

Carol was very active and enjoyed many activities including running, walking, skiing and biking and she was an avid reader in her spare time. Dedicated to health and fitness her entire life, she completed the Rhode Island Marathon in 1983 and always prioritized wellness. As much as she enjoyed all of her activities, she loved nothing more than being her family and being a Mother and Grandmother. After retiring, she was able to spend her final years focusing on the things she loved most, devoting her time to her children and grandchildren.

Besides her husband of forty-eight years, she is survived by a son, Joseph W. Blaeser IV of Warren; a daughter, Katie B. Abbott and her son-in-law Wallace Abbott of Barrington and her two grandchildren, Annabelle M. Abbott and Allison C. Abbott; a brother, Gary M. McLane and his wife Patty of Barrington; a sister, Ann M. Horton and her husband Cliff of Gloucester, and several nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral will be held on Friday November 12, 2021 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Luke Church, Washington Road, Barrington at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the North Burial Ground Cemetery, Bristol. Calling hours are Thursday from 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions in Carol’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association Rhode Island Chapter, 245 Waterman Street Suite #306, Providence, RI 02906 would be deeply appreciated.

  4. I remember Carol from my high school days as the most beautiful girl in school. I once told her that and she tipped her head and smiled shyly. A kind gentle spirit inside and out who took time to talk to an underclassman. Later, she taught both my children, a favorite of theirs. She touched our world in a very special way. We will always smile when we think of Carol. Wishing you peace.
