Nelson, Catherine M., 91, of Holland Avenue, Riverside, died peacefully on December 18, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Gerald J. Nelson.

Born in Riverside, a daughter of the late Michael J. and Catherine Mary (Judge) Roe, she was a lifelong resident of Riverside.

Mrs. Nelson was a graduate of East Providence High School Class of 1938.

Catherine was a lifelong communicant of St. Brendan Church. She was a member of the East Providence Senior Center. She enjoyed line dancing and spending time with her family.

She is survived by a daughter; Kathleen A. Nicini and her husband Raymond of Riverside, four sons; Gerald J. Nelson Jr. of Riverside, Robert E. Nelson and his wife Sarah of Cranston, Richard F. Nelson and his wife Mary of Coventry and Stephen G. Nelson and his wife Heidi of Smithfield, six grandchildren; Christopher and Jennifer Nicini of Riverside, Katie LeCornu of Scituate, Richard Nelson Jr. of Coventry and Michael and Grace Nelson of Scituate, two step-grandchildren; Philip and Timothy Davey of Cranston and three great grandchildren. She is the sister of the late Florence Peter, John, Joseph, Frederick, Raymond and Edward Roe.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday December 22, 2011 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 am with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside at 10 am. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
