Cecelia P. (Rutkowski) Maynard of Riverside, RI, died on December 12, 2020 from complications of Covid-19. She was the beloved wife of 59 years of Robert E. Maynard of Riverside, loving mother of Michelle C. Maynard and devoted grandmother of Lara C. Sunter, both of Arlington, VA.
Born in Detroit to the late Walter Rutkowski and the late Lottie (Guzanek) Rutkowski, she was a long-time resident of Riverside, RI. Ceil started her career working for the Brotherhood of Railway Workers in Detroit. She served for many years as a legal secretary at various law offices in Providence, and retired from the legal division of Travelers Insurance.
She leaves one sister Helen Chonkich of Warren, MI, a brother, Robert Rutkowski of Warren, and many nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by siblings Stella Iwaniec, Stephanie Ziff, and Chester, Edward, and Stanley Rutkowski.
Ceil was an avid gardener and an expert seamstress and yarn crafter who generously shared her knowledge and the fruits of her labor. She was a communicant of St. Brendan’s Church, Riverside.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated St. Brendan’s Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside, followed by a private burial in Swan Point Cemetery, Blackstone Blvd., Providence.

I remember Ceil gardening away on Woodcrest she was a lovely woman and neighbor always enjoyed a quick chat with her when I was walking my dog my deepest sympathies to Bob and Michelle God’s blessings to you

I was so sorry to learn of Ciel’s passing this morning. I remember fondly going to visit Ciel, Robert, and Michelle in Riverside every Christmas. My siblings and I talked via a text thread this morning about how hard it must be for the family to have Pauline’s passing, and now Ciel’s (we are Louise Morin Thompson is our mother). I am thinking of you all with love.
