Hawkins, Charles, M., 64, formerly of Barrington, died accidently on July 17, 2015.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Francis R. and Marion S. (McConnell) Hawkins, he lived in North Providence for 15 years previously residing in East Providence and Cranston.

Mr. Hawkins was a Legislative Aide for both Senator John Chafee and Governor Lincoln Chafee for over 20 years. He recently was a spokesman for the State of Rhode Island Energy Department.

Charles was a graduate of Bishop Feehan High School Class of 1969 and a graduate of Providence College Class of 1973.

A sports enthusiast, Charles enjoyed bicycle riding, hiking and swimming at the beaches on Block Island and Cape Cod. He was a devoted Boston Red Sox fan.

He is survived by two brothers, Rev. Robert F. Hawkins, Pastor of St. Luke’s Church, Barrington and Stephen M. Hawkins of Indian Rocks, FL; a sister, Mary Ellen Brady of Jefferson, NH; five nieces and nephews and five great nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held on Saturday July 25, 2015 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 a.m. with a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by his brother Rev. Robert F. Hawkins in St. Luke’s Church, 108 Washington Road, Barrington at 10 a.m. A Graveside Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
