Rupp, Charles R., 89, of Windward Lane, died peacefully on April 5, 2012 at the RI Veterans’ Home, Bristol. He was the beloved husband of Barbara (Darezzo) McGinn and the late Dorothy (Bruno) Rupp.

Born in Indianapolis, IN., a son of the late Peter and Ethel (Streit) Rupp, he lived in Bristol for 58 years.

Mr. Rupp was an engineer at Texas Instruments for 30 years before retiring in 1986. He was a US Navy Veteran, serving during both WW II and the Korean Conflict.

Charles was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and active on numerous committees at North Farm, where he lived for 27 years. He enjoyed tennis, walking, travel, bird-watching and sailing.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Charles R. Rupp Jr. (Mary) of Bristol, and Richard Rupp (JoAnn) of Wickford; a daughter, Leslie Deering (Timothy) of Wakefield; a stepson Michael McGinn of New York and a stepdaughter, Patricia Francis (Christopher) of Bristol; a sister, Emma C. Morrow of St. Cloud, FL.; four grandchildren, Charles III, Jennifer and Timothy Rupp and Robin Deering; eight step-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the RI Veterans’ Home, 480 Metacom Avenue, Bristol, on Saturday, April 14 at 9:00 AM. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Newport Memorial Park, Middletown. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the RI Veterans’ Home. Arrangements are under the direction of the W.
