Chester B. Mott

Mott, Chester B., 85, of Grant Avenue, Riverside, died peacefully on December 16, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Joan C. (Smith) Mott.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Chester B. and Florence (McDonald) Mott, he was a lifelong resident of Riverside.

Mr. Mott was a deck hand for the Longshoremen’s Union Local #25 for 25 years before retiring in 1993.

Chester enjoyed fishing, boating and clamming.

He is survived by his children, Margaret Mott of Riverside, Deborah Mott of Ft. Myers, FL; Patricia Mott of Riverside, Angela Lavery and her fiancé Arlindo Morais, Michael Mott of Riverside, Mary Wall and her husband Thomas of East Providence and Tammy Mott of Ft. Myers, FL; a sister, Shirley Antonelli of Vernon, CT; a brother, Paul Mott of Hartford, CT; three grandchildren, Christopher and Nicole Lavery and Thomas Wall and a great grandson, Christopher Lavery. He was the father of the late Kathleen DeMedeiros and Chester B. Mott Jr. and brother of the late Victor Mott.

A Celebration of his Life will be held on Friday December 21, 2018 in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Calling hours are Thursday 4-7 p.m. Flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in Chester’s memory to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI, 02904 would be deeply appreciated.

  4. Sincere condolences to the Mott family. Your dad was a sweet and quiet presence at our backyard barbecues, family events and my parents always welcomed and enjoyed his and Joan’s company. Prayerful thoughts that they are together again.
