Cardin, Claire F., (Walsh), 93, of Rosedale Avenue, died peacefully on September 12, 2017. She was the devoted wife of the late Paul J. Cardin Jr with whom she celebrated a 65th wedding anniversary.

Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late William F. and Elizabeth M. (McGowan) Walsh, she lived in Barrington for 65 years.

Mrs. Cardin was a communicant of St. Luke Church.

Claire was the loving mother to Paula E. Adams of Barrington, Patricia J. Greenan of Windham, Maine and Florida, William P. Cardin of Warwick, Maryanne Rainey of Smithfield, Paul J. Cardin III of Swansea, MA, Robert J. Cardin of Cranston, and C. Sean Cardin of Barrington; two sisters, Roberta Selsor and Elizabeth Hill; twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Helen Kerrins and William Walsh Jr.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday September 28, 2017 in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Luke Church, Washington Road, Barrington at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount St. Mary Cemetery, East Providence.

Calling hours are Wednesday September 27, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. Flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in Claire’s memory to the RI Alzheimer’s Association of Rhode Island, 245 Waterman Street, Suite 306, Providence, RI, 02906 would be deeply appreciated.

  1. So sorry to hear this news and wish we could have been there in Rhode Island Thursday. Our thoughts and prayers with everyone and I’m sure Aunt Claire is playing a fine game if scrabble and having a Ward 8!

  2. Maryanne, can’t say how sorry I am over your Mom’s passing. I got to know Claire through you. She must have been an amazing women to have earned such love, devotion and respect from her daughter(s). Maryanne, I wonder if your family members have any idea of the many hours every day that you spent nurturing your mother, loving and supporting her and seeing her through to the end of her life! I know you will miss her for the rest of your life. I miss seeing you everyday at the nursing home and I never pass Claire’s unit without thinking of you both. Love, Ruth

  4. Please accept my sincere condolences. I worked with Paul for so many years at Bradley Hospital. Paul and Claire had been part of our many celebrations. They were always a loving, caring couple to those who knew them.

  5. I remember meeting Mrs Cardin 19 years ago with her son Bobby, and from that day on she insisted that I call her mom. She and Mr Cardin has opened their hearts, and showed me nothing less than love when they welcomed me into their family… I’m missing you already Mom.. My sincerest condolences to Patty, Paula, Maryanne, PJ, Billy, Sean, and Bobby

    I only remember Aunt Claire as a sassy woman with a big laugh. She was always so kind and her sense of humor always delighted me. My mom loved her dearly. I’m so very sorry for your big loss. Saying prayers that the pain is replaced quickly with all the fond memories you have of her.

    Please know that our hearts go out to you with your Mom’s passing.
    She was always smiling and is a good soul like your Dad, Uncle Paul.
    Aunt Claire was my and my Brother Ray’s, Godmother. She religiously sent Birthday cards every year, for years!
    Always very thoughtful and sweet overall.
    Loved her!

  9. Sean, and the entire Cardin Family, I am so sorry for your loss. May your memories bring you comfort during this difficult time. I am schedule for surgery next week, however if they release me before Wed, I will be there!!
