Guerra, Claire Maigret, 81, of Carousel Drive, Riverside, died peacefully on January 22, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She was the former spouse of Lee Guerra of Florida.

Born, Claire Jeanette Maigret in Providence, June 8, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Albertina (Pelland) Maigret. Claire was raised in a large French Canadian family. She outlived several siblings; Blanche Audette, Ernest Maigret, Rita Maigret, Arthur Maigret and Doris Montpetit. She attended Our Lady of Lourdes School in Providence and she graduated from St. Charles High School in Providence. Following high school, she was employed by Shepard’s Company in Providence. She was a resident of Riverside since 1965.

After raising her children, Mrs. Guerra was employed by Trina Inc. of Fall River, NCCJ, Blue Cross Blue Shield of RI and EBCAP. She retired in 2008.

She is survived by three sons; Paul. V. McQuade and his wife Norma McQuade of Laughlintown, PA; Paul Guerra and his wife Elena Vieira Guerra of Prospect, CT;David Guerra and his wife Karen Pierce Guerra of Warwick; two daughters; Jacqueline Guerra Lofgren and her husband LTC Joseph Lofgren of Providenceand Michelle Guerra Rodrigues and her husband John Rodrigues of Swansea, MA; a brother, Normand Maigret of Providence; eight grandchildren; Capt Joel LofgrenUSAF JAG, Julianne Lofgren, Anthony Guerra, Kerri Anne Dailey, Nicholas Guerra,Ryan Guerra, Shannon Guerra and Jeffrey Rodrigues; and two great grandchildren, Jacoby Guerra and Adrian Guerra.

Mrs. Guerra had many interests. She loved ice skating, was a skilled bowler, winning several awards, and an avid card player. She simply loved being a mom and was actively involved in her children’s many varied activities. She spent many years as a Cub Scout leader in Riverside. She enjoyed cooking and traveling and opening her home and heart to family and friends. The joy of her later years, however, was time spent with her eight grandchildren.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday February 2, 2013 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue Riverside at 10 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside at 11 a.m. Calling hours are Friday, February 1, 2013 from 6-8 p.m.Flowers are respectfully omitted.
