Johnson, Clifton, E., 91, of Greene Avenue, died peacefully on Saturday January 23, 2016 at home in the room that he built surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Irene M. (Malkowski) Johnson.

Born in New Bedford, MA, a son of the late A. Edgar and Olga (Hugo) Johnson, he lived in Barrington for 74 years.

Mr. Johnson was a Master Carpenter for 40 years before retiring in 1986.

Clifton was a graduate of Warren High School Class of 1942 where he was a member of the 1940 baseball team that is being inducted into the Warren High School Athletic Hall of Fame in April. He was an original member of the Warren Indian Marching Band, which performed at the World’s Fair in 1939.

Mr. Johnson was a member of the West Barrington Men’s Club, the Silver Spring Golf Course and the Rhode Island Carpenters Union. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing horseshoes.

Besides his wife of 69 years, he is survived by two sons, Robert C. Johnson and his wife Janet of Barrington and Kenneth C. Johnson and his wife Katharine of Cape Elizabeth, ME; a daughter, Karen J. Davis and her husband John of Milton, MA; a sister, Evelyn Taylor of Medford, MA; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

His funeral will be held on Saturday January 30, 2016 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 7:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Luke Church, Washington Road, Barrington at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
