Donna Jeanne (Grimes) Mackie, 78, of Fuller Avenue, Riverside, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, at the HopeHealth Hulitar & Palliative Care Center in Providence. She was the beloved wife of Ronald R. Mackie, with whom she shared 36 years of marriage, love, and devotion.

Nothing meant more to her than time spent with her loved ones, especially her six cherished grandchildren, who brought her endless pride and happiness. Her gentle presence, kind heart, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Besides her husband Ronald, Donna is survived by her three sons, Brandon A. Van Balen of Wilton, Connecticut, Devin V. Van Balen of Lincoln, Rhode Island, and Graham C. Mackie of Pawtucket, Rhode Island; and her six grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Richard Grimes.

Donna will be remembered for her quiet grace, her deep love for family, and the gentle way she touched the lives of those around her.

Her funeral will be private. Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in Donna’s memory to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692, would be deeply appreciated.

  3. I grew up with Donna in Bessemer, and I have such wonderful memories of her. We lived beside each other in the brick row and played every day in the little shanty in our backyard. She was a very sweet friend, and I will always cherish the time we spent together.
