Bernier-Dorr, Doris, 89, of Borden Street, Riverside, died peacefully on October 1, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Roland J. Bernier and the late Clarence Dorr.

Born in Boston, MA, a daughter of the late George and Doris (Chace) Shaw, she lived in Riverside for 47 years.

Mrs. Bernier-Dorr was a health aid for the Jewish Family Services for 28 years before retiring in 1987. She also was a waitress at the former Wampanoag Diner for 25 years.

Doris was the first recipient of the United Way of Southeastern New England Distinguished Service Award.

She is survived by her nine children; Geraldine R. McShane, Philip J. Bernier, Doris M. Boyle, Gale A. DuBois, Robert T. Bernier and Diane L. Dorr, all of Riverside, Larry G. Bernier of East Providence, Ronald J. Bernier of Johnston and Roland R. Bernier of Warwick, a sister; Margaret Ferris of Providence, 27 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Joyce E. Bernier-Lemoi and William D. Mulvey and sister of the late William J. Mulvey and Virginia Lockhart.

Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday October 5, 2011 in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 10 am. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday 4-8 pm.
