Donnelly, Dorothy, A., 81, formerly of Pine Top Road, died peacefully on March 22, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Henry R. ‘Bob’ Donnelly.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late John J. and Anna (McLean) Ward, she had lived in Barrington for over 30 years before moving permanently to Harwichport where she had summered for almost 30 years.

Mrs. Donnelly was a Registered Nurse and held positions in Nursing Administration at St. Joseph’s Hospital for over 40 years before retiring in 1995. She was one of the first nurses recruited to form the Coronary Care Unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She also achieved her certificate as a Critical Care Registered Nurse.

Dorothy was a graduate of Hope High School Class of 1951, St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1955, Roger Williams University Class of 1985 and received her Master’s degree from Salve Regina University in Health Care Administration. She was past President of St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association. She was a recipient of the Roger Williams University Alumni Service Award in 1996.

Besides her husband of 58 years, she is survived by a daughter, Susan Donnelly Murphy and her husband Robert of Quincy, MA and West Dennis, MA; three grandchildren, Robinson Murphy and his wife Regina, Anna Jane Murphy and Katharine Murphy and her husband Ryan and four sisters, Ann Olsen and her husband Donald of Smithfield, Margaret Notardonato of Charlestown, Teresa McNally of Mt. Laurel, NJ and Kathleen Robert and her husband Dennis of Pawtucket. She was the sister of the late John J. Ward Jr.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday March 28, 2015 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 9 a.m. with a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial in St. Luke Church, Washington Road, Barrington at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
