Edmund McCaughey

McCaughey, Edmund J., 91, formerly of Francis Avenue, Riverside died peacefully on January 23, 2019 at the Healthpark Hope Hospice Center, Fort Myers, Florida. He was the husband of the late Rose A. (Grant) McCaughey.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Charles H. and Mary (Rogers) McCaughey, he lived in Ft. Myers, Florida for the past 8 years, previously residing in Riverside for 50 years.

Mr. McCaughey was a conductor for the Penn Central Railroad Company for 40 years before retiring in 1989.

Edmund was a communicant of St. Brendan Church. He was a member of the Penn Central Railroad Alumni Association. He enjoyed swimming.

Mr. McCaughey was a United States Marine Corps Veteran serving during WWII and the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by a daughter, Deborah McCaughey Rosa of Ft. Myers, FL., and two grandchildren, James Rosa and Lea Rosa. He was the father of the late Robert J. McCaughey and brother of the late Barbara Wood, Robert, William and Charles McCaughey.

His Funeral will be held on Friday February 1, 2019 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday 5-8 p.m.

  1. I remember the days of walking over to the house in Riverside to go play and swim in the pool. You always were so loving and welcoming. I will miss you deeply and hope you will be at peace.

  2. Ed and I were classmates of the Sacred Heart Jr High class of 1944. He was a person who was always smiling. Our school had a picture album for our class and Ed and I are side by side in my album. I send my condolences to his daughter and family. I will keep him in my prayers.
