Smith, Edward S., Sr., 88, of Hospital Road, Riverside, died peacefully on March 28, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth B. (Green) Smith.

A lifelong resident of East Providence, he was a son of the late Clifford A. and Floretta (Boyd) Smith.

Mr. Smith was an environmental manager at the Evergreen Nursing Home for 7 years before retiring in 1995.

Edward was a member of the St. Andrew’s Lodge, Riverside.

Mr. Smith was a United States Army Veteran serving during World War II.

Besides his wife of 64 years, he is survived by a son, Edward S. Smith Jr. and his wife Pat of Deltona, FL; a daughter, Dawn E. Ottone and her husband Mike of Riverside; a brother, Kenneth T. Smith of Riverside; four grandchildren, Brad, Cindy, Ryan and Morgan and five great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Frederick H. Smith, Clifford A. Smith Jr., Joan A. Smith, Floretta D. Duclos and Elsie M. Redman.

His funeral service will be held on Monday April 1, 2019 in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday 5-8 p.m.
