Fratus, Elaine, R., 83, of Leigh Lane, Riverside, died peacefully at home on May 1, 2014 with her caregiver niece, Mary Bishop.

Born at home in East Providence, a daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Morris) Fratus, she lived in Riverside for the past 17 years previously residing in Barrington for 40 years.

Ms. Fratus was a nurse anesthetist at Rhode Island Hospital for 43 years before retiring in 2002.

Elaine was a graduate of East Providence High School Class of 1947 and the Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1950.

Ms. Fratus was a communicant of St. Luke Church and was a member of the Rhode Island Nursing Association and the Rhode Island Hospital Alumni Association. She enjoyed gardening, skiing and most of all being a hostess of family and friends gatherings.

She is survived by three sisters, Edna Crevier of Riverside, Esther Gould of Maine and Eunice Bishop of Florida; eight nieces and nephews; fourteen great nieces and nephews and fourteen grand nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Ethel Devaney and Edward Robert Fratus.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday May 6, 2014 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 am with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Luke Church, Washington Road, Barrington at 10 am. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday 4-6 pm.
