McDonough, Eleanor, Louise, ‘Sweet Lou’ (Ireton), 86, of East Providence, formerly of Barrington, died on Saturday November 13, 2010 at Miriam Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Born in New Haven, CT, she was the wife of the late Robert Emmett McDonough Sr.

A devoted wife and mother of nine, she lived an active life and enjoyed weekly bridge games, bowling, movies and her activities with the Barrington Women’s Club. Resigned to learn the game of golf, she took up the sport at the age of 72! She was an active Patriots and Red Sox fan and often planned her Sunday activities solely around ‘the game.’

She is survived by her nine children; Janet L. Taglianetti and her husband Stephen of Warwick, Judith M. Leone of Cranston, Robert E. McDonough Jr. and his wife Debra of Seekonk, MA, Joan Parkos Moran and her husband Timothy of Barrington, Mark J. McDonough and his wife Michele of North Providence, Neil P. McDonough and his wife Winnie of Seekonk, MA, Matthew J. McDonough and his wife Lisa of Mission Viejo, CA, Paul J. McDonough of Houston, TX and Sean P. McDonough of Malaga, Spain, thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Robert W. Ireton.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Luke Church, Washington Road, Barrington on Tuesday November 16, 2010 at 10 am. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted.
