Estelle A. Tetreault

Tetreault, Estelle A., 91, of ‘Eastgate’ Wampanoag Trial, Riverside, a Rhode Island Department of Health employee for 32 years and a World War II Army Nurse Corps Veteran, died on December 29, 2013 after a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Rita (Beaulieu) Tetreault Sylvestre and Hormidas Tetreault. She leaves a sister, Lillian Lamoureux, of North Dartmouth and twelve nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

Born in Central Falls, she lived in Pawtucket most of her life before moving to East Providence in 1982. She was a daily communicant and Eucharistic Minister at St. Luke’s Parish, Barrington.

Miss Tetreault received her early education in Canada, in the convent of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary. She was a graduate of St. Xavier’s Academy and Pawtucket Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She received her Bachelor of Science from Boston College School of Nursing and her Master’s Degree in Public Health Administration from Boston University. She was a member of the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society in nursing. She served as a First Lt. in the Army Nurse Corps during World War II in the European Theatre of Operation. Her nursing career included over thirty 30 years of service with the R.I. Department of Health. She served as Treasurer of the R.I. State Nurses’ Association, President of the Nurses’ Thomistic Guild of Providence College, and Board Member of the Providence Diocesan Council of Catholic Nurses. She was actively involved in the Cursillo movement in the Diocese, the Diocesan Office of Planning & Development, the Diocesan Marian Commission and the New England Region Mariological Society of America. She also served as President of the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites, Barrington.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday January 4, 2014 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 am with a Mass of Christian Burial in the Carmelite Monastery Chapel, 25 Watson Avenue, Barrington at 10 am. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Daggett Avenue, Pawtucket. Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted.
