Eugene McCarron

Date of Passing:

September 1, 2025

Eugene McCarron, 92, of Massasoit Avenue, East Providence, passed away unexpectedly at home on September 1, 2025. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Eugene was the beloved husband of the late Eleanor “Dodie” Marie (O’Connell) McCarron.

Born in Providence to the late Edward and Florence (Brogan) McCarron, Eugene’s life was rooted in family, faith, and service. He spent the last 20 years in East Providence.

A proud graduate of LaSalle Academy and Providence College, Class of 1954, Eugene lived a life marked by dedication and perseverance. He served his country honorably as a United States Navy veteran before returning home to pursue his passion in floral design. For three decades, he owned and operated the former McCarron Florist family business in Providence, where he brought beauty into the lives of many, one arrangement at a time, until his retirement in 2005.

Eugene’s greatest pride, however, was his family. He is survived by his children: Robert “Bobby” McCarron of East Providence, Sandy Chrupcala of Barrington, Tom Blais of Stratham, NH, and Bill Blais of Bronxville, NY. His legacy lives on in his ten grandchildren, each of whom brought him joy and meaning in his later years. He was predeceased by his son, Teddy McCarron, and his grandson, Samuel E. Chrupcala.

In keeping with his wishes, funeral services will be private.

  1. I did business with Gene for many years as an employee of Clarke Flower Shop and for many years at my own shop, City Gardens Flower Shop. Gene was always a great friend to me and gave me lots of sage advice for years ( advice you could bank on!). He is missed. Gary A. D’Amario.
