Evelyn (Balasco) Dorsi
Date of Passing:
Evelyn (Balasco) Dorsi, 99, of Flat River Road, Coventry, formerly of Barrington, died peacefully on March 7, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Nascenzina (Pirolli) Balasco. Evelyn made her home in Coventry for the past 42 years, having previously lived in Barrington.
A dedicated and hardworking woman, Evelyn served as a School Dietary Aide for the State of Rhode Island for 20 years, retiring in 1991. Never one to stay idle, she continued working as a baker in the Walmart Bakery from 1992 until 2010, where she was known for her warm smile and delicious baked goods. Earlier in life, she worked as a waitress at Custy’s Restaurant in West Warwick and the Maple Root Inn in Coventry, where she enjoyed meeting and serving members of the community.
Evelyn was a faithful communicant of St. John & Paul Church. She found great joy in the simple pleasures of life—cooking for those she loved, tending to her garden, and playing cards with her girlfriends. Her kitchen was the heart of many family gatherings, and she was especially known for making her daily pasta sauce to share with family and friends. During the holidays, her homemade Christmas cookies became a cherished tradition eagerly anticipated by those she loved. Above all, Evelyn treasured the time she spent with her family, who were the center of her life.
She leaves behind her loving children, Robert DiQuinzio and his wife Robin of Barrington, and Celeste Morris of Coventry; her brother, David Balasco of Barrington; five cherished grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was the mother of the late Roger DiQuinzio and the sister of the late Robert Balasco, Joseph Balasco, and Eleanor Balasco.
Evelyn will be remembered for her warmth, her generous spirit, and the love she shared so freely with her family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the many memories she created around her table and in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026, in the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Santa Maria del Campo Cemetery, Upland Way, Barrington. Calling hours are Thursday, March 19, 2026 from 4–7 p.m.
