Burgess, Francis, J., Jr., 89, of Narragansett Avenue, died unexpectedly on July 13, 2015. He was the husband of the late Ardeen E. (Bryden) Burgess.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Francis J. and Dorothy (Ground) Burgess, he lived in Barrington for 65 years.

Mr. Burgess was a machinist for the former Crown Fasteners Mfg. for 29 years and the Speidel Co. for 20 years before retiring in 1991. He was a groundskeeper for the Silver Spring Golf Course, Riverside from 1992-2014.

Francis was a communicant of St. Luke Church. He was a member of the West Barrington Men’s Club, the Barrington American Legion Post #8, the Riverside Bishop Hickey Knights of Columbus and the Silver Spring Golf Course. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, reading and spending time with his loving children and grandchildren.

Mr. Burgess was a United States Navy Veteran serving during World War II.

He is survived by three daughters, Nancy L. Moura of Barrington, Laurie A. Sylvia of Swansea, MA and Carol J. Schinigoi of Bristol; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandson. He was the brother of the late Robert Burgess, Gloria English and Dorothy Lang.

His funeral will be held on Friday July 17, 2015 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Luke Church, Washington Road, Barrington at 10 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
