Welk, Frederick, L., Sr., 99, of East Bay Manor, Wampanoag Trial, Riverside, died peacefully on March 10, 2013 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Anita (Bregin) Welk.

Born in Berwick, ND, a son of the late Frank and Katherine (Schall) Welk, he lived in Riverside for the past 3 years.

Mr. Welk was an accountant for Shop Rite Foods for 30 years before retiring in 1976. He served in the United States Navy Reserves.

Besides his wife of 55 years, he is survived by a son; Frederick L. Welk Jr. of Easton, CT, three step-children; Sr. Carmeli Proano of El Paso, TX, Louis Proano of Riverside and Dr. Lawrence Proano of Portsmouth, a brother; Peter Welk of Bend, OR and two sisters; Aggie Fields of Spokane Valley, WA and Dorothy Hanley of Portland, OR. He was the brother of the late Barbara Sitter, Mary Kongslie, Becky Wallace, Beatrice McNab, Frank and Clement Welk.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday March 16, 2013 in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside at 9 am. Burial will be held in St. Mary Cemetery, Evergreen Park, Illinois. Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted.
