Pierce, Galen, E., Jr., 82, of Park Road, Riverside, died unexpectedly on December 17, 2009 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Joan (Searle) Pierce.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Galen E. Pierce Sr. and Beatrice (Bowman) Pierce, he was a lifelong resident of Riverside.

Mr. Pierce was the owner and operator of the Pierce Insurance Agency, Riverside for 50 years before retiring in 1999.

Galen was Past President of the East Providence Chamber of Commerce. He was a United States Air Force Veteran serving during World War II.

Besides his wife of 56 years, he is survived by three children; Holly, Scott and Kimberly, all of East Providence, a niece, Deborah C. LeBrun and four grandchildren; Elizabeth, Nicholas, Katherine and Samantha. He was the brother of the late Doris Connor.

A celebration of his life and Memorial Service with Holy Eucharist and Military Honors will be held on Saturday December 26, 2009 at 11 am in St. Andrews School Chapel, 63 Federal Road, Barrington.
