Bryan, Gene L., 83, of Crescent View Avenue, Riverside, died unexpectedly on May 1, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Ruth (Tavares) Bryan.

Born in Elizabeth, TN, a son of the late Clarence and Ella Mae (Cannon) Bryan, he lived in Riverside for the past 10 years.

Mr. Bryan was a dye caster mechanic for the former Pill & Chain Co., Barrington for 26 years. He also was a dye mechanic for the John Roach Co. for 14 years.

Gene was a United States Navy Veteran serving during the Korean War, where he was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He enjoyed fishing and automobiles.

Besides his wife of 23 years, he is survived by two sons, Robert Bryan and his wife Beverly of Wells, ME and David Bryan of East Providence; a daughter, Rubye Horton and husband Thomas of Warwick; several grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces; nephews and his faithful dog, Cocoa. He was the step-father of the late Matthew S. Blackmar.

His funeral will be private. Burial will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

    to Ruthie David and the entire family. Gene was a great guy he was like my second dad to me and a dear friend. I went to visit found out today he pass way i can’t believe he’s gone I’ll miss him dearly

  2. I am so very sorry for your loss. Please find comfort in God’s sure promise of a resurrection as set forth in the Bible. (Acts 24:15; John 5:28,29) Those who are raised to life will have the prospect of never again being subject to misery, sickness, or death. (Revelation 21:4) I hope that reflecting on these thoughts will give you some relief during this difficult time.

  6. Ruthie, David, Rubye, Robert, I am still so much at a loss for words on “Dad’s” passing. He was such an amazing person to know. I have shared many times together and laughs over the years, good memories I’ll cherish always. “Dad” will be missed dearly. He was like a second Dad to me and I am going to miss him.
