Tavares, George, C., 76, formerly of Martin Street, died peacefully on August 2, 2012 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Fall River, MA, a son of the late Annibal and Sofia (Viveiros) Tavares, he lived in Warwick for 15 years previously residing in East Providence.

Mr. Tavares was a security guard at Amica Insurance for 10 years before retiring in 2000. He was a United States Navy Veteran.

He is survived by a brother; Ricardo C. Tavares of Riverside, two nephews; Todd Bryant of North Providence and Scott Bryant of Warwick and three nieces; Cheryl Tavares of Prudence Island, Patricia Tavares of Barrington and Michele Hussey of East Providence. He was the brother of the late Jacqueline Bryant and Theresa Drennan.

His funeral service will be held on Wednesday August 8, 2012 in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 11 am. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
