Zimmerman, George, C., 90, of Gregory Court, died peacefully on April 26, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Alma A. (Beekman) Zimmerman for 65 years.

Born in Jersey City, NJ, a son of the late George and Catherine E. (Arnold) Zimmerman, he lived in Barrington for 47 years and Stuart, FL for 24 years.

Mr. Zimmerman worked for the former Rau Fastener retiring as President in 1986.

George was a communicant of St. Luke Church and a member of the parish Golf League. He was Past Grand Knight and Fourth Degree Member of the Bishop Hickey Knights of Columbus, Riverside. He was a member of the Barrington YMCA Board of Directors. He enjoyed music, dancing and boating.

Mr. Zimmerman was a United States Navy Veteran serving as a Lieutenant on the U.S.S. Vincennes in the South Pacific during World War II.

George was a graduate of Newark College of Engineering.

He is survived by his seven children; Robert G. Zimmerman and his wife Karen of Lincoln, CA, Gary G. Zimmerman and his wife Carol of Seekonk, MA, Richard G. Zimmerman and his wife Kay of Winton, CA, Paul G. Zimmerman of Smithfield, Donna M. Murtha-DiMeo and her husband William of North Kingstown, Thomas G. Zimmerman and his wife Sharon of Barrington and Nancy A. Viens and her husband David of Harrison City, PA, a sister; Lorraine Carey of Boonton, NJ, nineteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Donald G. Zimmerman, father-in-law of the late Dianne Zimmerman and Robert Murtha and brother of the late William Zimmerman.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday May 1, 2012 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 am with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Luke Church, Washington Road, Barrington at 10 am. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Forest Chapel Cemetery, Nayatt Road, Barrington.
