George W. Edge

Edge, George William, 83, of Wilmarth Avenue, East Providence, died peacefully on October 18, 2023 at the Riverview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Coventry.

Born in Cape Dauphin, Canada, a son of the late George Archibald and Christine (MacLean) Edge, he was a resident of East Providence for 69 years.

Mr. Edge was a Supervisor Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room at Pawtucket Memorial Hospital. He also was a supervisor at the Rhode Island Institute for Mental Health for 25 years.

George was a member of the Rhode Island and National Audubon Societies.

A sports enthusiast, he was selected as an All New England High School Basketball player. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, swimming and walking.

Mr. Edge was a United States Airforce Veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Colleen Watkins of Brooksville, FL and Donna Rebello of Spring Hill, FL; two grandchildren, Delany Shea Mazur and Kenneth Rebello Jr. and a brother, Keith Edge of Narragansett. He was the brother of the late Rose Edge and Roderick Edge.

His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday November 11, 2023 at 2 p.m. in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside. Calling Hours and flowers are respectfully omitted. Burial will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

  3. We always looked forward to Uncle George, Aunt Chris, Cousins George, Rick and Keith arriving in Englishtown Nova Scotia for their annual vacation. Then the fun would begin, many adventures too many to list. Some summers George would arrive early by bus from Rhode Island and stay with us for the summer. I also kept in touch with him over the years.
    George will be missed and never forgotten.
