McHugh, Gertrude, M., 89, formerly of Ninth Street, Providence died peacefully on September 30, 2013. She was the wife of the late James H. McHugh.

Born in Kidderminster, England, a daughter of the late Walter and Susannah (Smith) Rogers, she lived in Providence for many years.

Mrs. McHugh was a food stamp eligibility technician for the State of Rhode Island for 10 years before retiring in 1986.

She is survived by two daughters; Susan C. Sullivan of Riverside and Marie A. Baillargeon of Putnam, CT, a son; Thomas H. McHugh of Providence, a brother; William Rogers of England, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Winifred Booten and Elizabeth Howes.

Her funeral will be private. Burial will be held in the Rhode Island Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
