Ginna Schifino

Schifino, Ginna, 91, of Woodbine Street, Riverside, died peacefully on November 29, 2011 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. She was the wife of the late Leonard F. Schifino.

Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Albert and Bianca (Guintini) Batastini, she lived in Riverside for 59 years.

Mrs. Schifino worked in the meat department at the former A & P Grocery Store for 15 years before retiring in 1974.

Ginna was a catcher in the Riverside Women’s Fast Pitch Softball League, where she met her husband Len who was a home plate umpire. She enjoyed bowling, where she was a member of the Riverside Pink Ladies Bowling League. She was a also a lifelong devoted Boston Red Sox fan.

She is survived by a daughter; Lynn C. Schifino of Riverside, with whom she lived, a sister; Norma Batastini of Pawtucket and her beloved cat; Willow. She was the sister of the late Mae Britt and Armand Batastini. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Her funeral service will be held on Saturday December 3 in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 9 am. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
