Strickland, Harry L. Jr., 79, Rehoboth, MA, died peacefully on November 16, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Carolyn (Harris) Strickland.

Born in Woonsocket, a son of the late Harry L. and Hortense (Lareau) Strickland, he was a devoted family man.

Mr. Strickland was a President and co-owner of a wholesale distribution company.

Harry was a graduate of Woonsocket High School. He was a member of many business associations, the American Dairy Goat Association and a supporter of the 4-H philosophy. He was also a member of the Rhode Island Senior Softball League.

Mr. Strickland was a United States Coast Guard Veteran.

Besides his wife of fifty nine years, he is survived by three daughters, Susan E. Rico of Rehoboth, MA, Deborah A. Sheehan of Rehoboth, MA, Betsy J. Strickland of Whately, MA; three grandchildren, Stephanie L. Ramos, Alexandra G. Lowe and Charlotte O. Strickland-Vannah; three son-in-law’s, John Rico, Garett Sheehan and Tom Vannah; two sisters, Susan Bouvier of Greenville and Cynthia Hanks of North Kingstown. He was the brother of the late Joel Strickland.

His funeral service will be held on Tuesday November 26, 2019 in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 10 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter.

Calling hours are Monday 4-7 p.m. Flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in Harry’s memory to the Salvation Army, 201 Pitman Street, Providence, RI 02906 would be deeply appreciated.

  1. To the Strickland family I offer my sincere condolences on the loss of Harry. After many years of doing business with Harry, I found him to be a friend and enjoyed our stories together. I’m sure he will be missed by all who knew him. Wrap your selves in the fond memories you have.

    With a heavy heart we bid farewell to Harry. Harry has been someone my family have called a friend for over 60 years. He will be greatly missed and thought of always. He was a true gentleman and very respected by all who knew him.
