Cahill, Helen Ann, (Murphy), 83, of North Lake Drive, Barrington, died peacefully on November 23, 2023 at Briarcliffe Manor, Johnston, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Robert W. Cahill.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late John A. and Margaret (Maguire) Murphy, she lived in Barrington for 55 years.

Mrs. Cahill was a teacher and librarian for the Providence School Department for 30 years before retiring in 2006. Helen worked as an English as a Second Language teacher for adults newly arriving to the United States.

Helen graduated from Elmhurst Academy, Providence, Class of 1958 and graduated from Salve Regina University Class of 1962, where she also was a member of the Alumni Association. She then went on to earn a Master’s degree from Bridgewater State University.

Mrs. Cahill was a communicant of St. Luke Church, Barrington and was a member of the Barrington Garden Club. She enjoyed art, gardening, crafts, reading and was a devoted Boston Red Sox fan.

Besides her husband of 55 years, she is survived by her children, Margaret R. Cummings of Barrington, Robert W. Cahill Jr. and his wife Lori of Cumberland and Ann E. Cedergren and her husband Paul of Warren; six grandchildren and a brother, John A. Murphy Jr. MD of Narragansett. She was the sister of the late James Murphy and mother-in-law of the late Peter A. Cummings.

Her Funeral will be held on Tuesday November 28, 2023 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Luke Church, Washington Road, Barrington at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Forest Chapel Cemetery, Nayatt Road, Barrington.

Calling hours are Monday 4-7 p.m. Flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in Helen’s memory to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10306 would be deeply appreciated.
