Cady, Helen Celina, (Prue) 96, formerly of North Shore Dr, Riverside, died peacefully on April 8, 2015 surrounded by her loving family at West View Nursing Home, where she had resided for the past 6 years. Helen was born in Barrington and lived in Riverside most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Lydia (Daignault) and Henry Prue.

Helen was a proud veteran of WWII serving as a Navy WAVE where she specialized as a Cryptographer at the Naval Communications Annex in Washington, DC. She attended Bryant College, and worked for Rico Machine in Bristol in accounting for 28 years until she retired in 1984.

A loving and devoted Mother Helen was active with Girl Scouts as troop leader and summer camp counselor and took great pride in serving on the various PTA boards in the local schools her daughters attended. She was a wonderful homemaker and made sure her family had nutritious meals and she enjoyed baking wonderful desserts, especially her renowned apple pie! One of her great gifts was her ability to design and sew beautiful clothing for her cherished daughters. In her retirement she became a friend of the Pomham Rocks Lighthouse and she was active in the Ocean State Unit #118 WAVES National (Women of the Sea Services). She found great joy as a participant in the filming of Rhode Island Women of WWII produced by RI PBS. Helen spent many happy hours quilting and chatting with friends at Barrington Fabrics designing and making beautiful quilts for her family and friends. She enjoyed helping out by driving friends to crafts, church functions, shopping and out to dine. Helen was a lifetime member of St. Brendan Church in Riverside and an active member of the Forever Young Club.

Helen was the wife of the late Donald Allen Cady to whom she was married for 47 years until his death in 1993. She is survived by her three daughters Patricia (Cady) McGinn of E. Falmouth, MA, Sharon (Cady) Brodie of Rochester, NY and Irene (Cady) Alexander of Warwick. Two siblings Charles Prue of NC and Emily (Prue) Nickerson of MA. Helen was the proud Grandmother of Thomas McGinn, Lauren & Jonathan Brodie, and Caitlyn & Samuel Alexander and the loving Great-Grandmother of Charlotte & Audoen McGinn. She was the sister of the late Joseph Prue, Irene Prue, and Olive (Prue) Rich. She also leaves many cherished nieces, nephews, friends, and caregivers. Helen will be remembered by all those whose life she touched as a feisty, determined, caring and giving woman.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday April 15, 2015 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Ave, Riverside at 8:45 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Brendan Church, Turner Ave, Riverside at 10:00 AM. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Princess Hill Cemetery, Barrington. Calling Hours are Tuesday 4:00 to 8:00 PM.In lieu of flowers donations in Helen’s memory to Friends of Pomham Rocks, P.
