Watson, Helen, C., (McGauley), 78, of Monmouth Drive, Riverside, died peacefully on September 13, 2011 surrounded by her loving family after a lengthy illness from pulmonary fibrosis. She was the beloved wife of the late W. Raymond Watson.

Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Agnes F. (Grant) McGauley.

Mrs. Watson was the co-owner with her late husband of the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, Riverside.

Helen was a 54 year communicant of St. Brendan Church and a member of the Forever Young Club. She enjoyed traveling up north and to Newport with her friends ‘The Golden Girls’, Marcella, Ronnie and Madeline.

A devoted mother and grandmother, she loved attending all her grandchildren’s competitions, games and activities.

She is survived by her children; Beth Watson of North Kingstown, Lynne Reed of Barrington with whom she lived, Patricia Watson of Riverside and William R. Watson. She was blessed with five wonderful grandchildren; Andrew, Taryn, Austin, Logan and Ryan, a very special brother-in-law; Joseph S. Jackson of Cranston and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Mary M. Jackson.

Her funeral will be held on Friday September 16, 2011 from the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 am with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside at 10 am. Graveside burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Calling hours are Thursday 4-8 pm. It was Helen’s wish to respectfully omit flowers and to celebrate her life by showing a simple act of kindness.
